Andy R. Burmeister is a seasoned Capitol Hill veteran who is known as a trustworthy, responsive, and proactive counselor on behalf of the firm’s federal government relations clients in Washington, D.C. A Minnesota native, he has strong relationships with Members of Congress from the Upper Midwest and Administration officials.
Mr. Burmeister has successfully developed and implemented comprehensive strategies on a variety of issues focusing on highway, transit, and rail transportation infrastructure, higher education, energy, agriculture, and the environment. He also represents various public clients on Capitol Hill, including non-profit organizations, institutions of higher education, public governments, and Native American tribes. Of specific note, Mr. Burmeister has excelled in advocating for rural and urban rail, highway, and transit projects through his work on behalf of cities and counties. Mr. Burmeister has also helped clients to expand their footprint in Washington, D.C., as well as develop business opportunities in and outside of the Beltway.
Mr. Burmeister joined the Lockridge Grindal Nauen Federal Relations Group after a career on staff in the United States Senate with Senator Norm Coleman. In his former role, Mr. Burmeister was responsible for federal appropriations and issues pertaining to transportation and infrastructure, science and technology, and education. Mr. Burmeister also previously worked in the St. Paul, Minnesota office of Senator Norm Coleman where he served as a policy liaison for local communities, businesses, and non-profit organizations.
Mr. Burmeister has a Master’s in Public Administration from the University of North Dakota, and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Bethel College in Minnesota. He is a Roseville, Minnesota native.
