Federal Relations

Megan G. Knight's focus with the Lockridge Grindal Nauen's Federal Relations Group is providing legislative strategy and congressional advocacy on behalf of clients, including university and college presidents, hospital executives, municipalities, elected officials, and leaders of non-profit entities. Ms. Knight has extensive experience navigating the intricacies of the federal government for these clients with her keen understanding of the implications of federal legislation and related regulatory policy on their priorities.

Ms. Knight has effectively leveraged this experience by successfully initiating and leading the fight to preserve Medicaid's Targeted Case Management program funding, which provides medical, social, and educational services for citizens. Her success resulted in significant savings for states while securing at-risk federal funds for her numerous clients. Ms. Knight successfully fought for the preservation of these funds with the bipartisan support of a wide range of Members of Congress, including the entire Minnesota Congressional Delegation, and assisted in successfully moving Administration officials to support the legislation.

In addition, Ms. Knight brings state-level political acumen to the Federal Relations Group, having joined the firm after working in former Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty's administration. During her time on the Governor's team, Ms. Knight amassed extensive experience in developing and implementing bold and innovative public health policy with key elected officials, serving as the Legislative Coordinator for the Minnesota Department of Health, executing Minnesota's health care legislative agenda. During this time Ms. Knight successfully worked to pass the "All Hazards Emergency Response" legislation coordinating state, county, and local entities in the response to natural disasters or terrorist attacks. Ms. Knight also worked as a Legislative Assistant in the Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus and with former Minnesota Senator Dave Durenberger at the National Institute of Health Policy in Minneapolis.

Ms. Knight is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas with a bachelor's degree in Political Science.
