Lockridge Grindal Nauen Hosts Annual Legislative Leadership Luncheon

Lockridge Grindal Nauen hosted their annual leadership luncheon at the University Club in St. Paul on February 29. The lunch followed a week of interesting legislative history: a veto override, the ousting of Lt. Governor Carol Molnau as Commissioner of MnDOT, and the announcement of a projected near $1 Billion deficit. The luncheon gave firm's clients and guests an opportunity to hear from state leaders on these events and the challenges facing Minnesota. Speakers at the lunch were Speaker of the House Margaret Anderson Kelliher (DFL - Minneapolis) and Senate Majority Leader Larry Pogemiller (DFL - Minneapolis).

Guests and legislators discussed policy areas of interest, and what the remainder of the session may look like. Both Kelliher and Pogemiller agreed that the state's economy will be a top priority for the rest of this year's session. The legislative leaders mentioned investing in people, firing up construction and trade, and being careful of the safety net structures available for Minnesotans. To get these things done, and still balance the state's budget, Kelliher and Pogemiller will need a collaborative bipartisan approach.

Lockridge Grindal Nauen holds a variety of policy luncheons throughout the year featuring key legislators as speakers. These forums give our clients the opportunity to ask questions and express their concerns regarding state policy matters.
