Lockridge Grindal Nauen P.L.L.P. (LGN) announces that the Minneapolis-based law firm has signed on four new members of the team. Rachel J. Christiansen, associate, is practicing in the areas of commercial litigation and antitrust law; David D. Leishman, associate, is practicing in the area of commercial litigation; Anna M. Horning Nygren, associate, is practicing in the area of commercial litigation. On October 2, Brian R. McDaniel will join the law firm’s Government Relations staff. Rachel J. Christiansen is a 2004 graduate of the UCLA School of Law where she was Managing Editor of the Women's Law Journal. She also completed UCLA's Program in Public Interest Law and Policy. Christiansen is a summa cum laude graduate of the University of Arizona where she received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English Literature and Composition. She practices in the firm's complex commercial litigation group with a focus on antitrust litigation. Christiansen is a member of Minnesota Women Lawyers and the Minnesota State and Hennepin County Bar Associations. Christiansen is a native of the Twin Cities area. She and her family live in the Hamline-Midway neighborhood of St. Paul, Minnesota. David D. Leishman is a 2006 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School where he was the Lead Note & Comment Editor for the Minnesota Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. His undergraduate degree is from Wheaton College. He was admitted to the Minnesota Bar in 2006. From 2006 to 2007, Leishman was law clerk to the Honorable G. Barry Anderson on the Minnesota Supreme Court. Leishman is a native of Suffield, Connecticut. He and his family live in Maple Grove, Minnesota. He is the son of Doug and Julie Leishman, Beverly Hills, Florida. Anna M. Horning Nygren is a 2006 summa cum laude graduate of the American University, Washington College of Law, Washington, D.C., where she was associate symposium editor for the American University Law Review and a member of the Order of the Coif. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, summa cum laude, and a Phi Beta Kappa key from the University of Minnesota. Horning Nygren is a member of the Minnesota Bar and is admitted to courts in Minnesota. From 2006 to 2007, she was law clerk to the Honorable Helen Meyer, associate justice on the Minnesota Supreme Court. Horning Nygren is a native of Red Wing, Minnesota. She and her family live in Golden Valley, Minnesota. She is the daughter of the late Keith Horning and Margaret Horning, International Falls, Minnesota. Brian R. McDaniel comes to LGN from the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development where he has served as director of government affairs. After working in private legal practice, McDaniel held several key positions both inside and outside of the Capitol. He served as the committee administrator for the House Committee on Commerce, Jobs, & Economic Development and legislative director to the Speaker of the Minnesota House of Representatives. Additionally, McDaniel has held the position of director of fiscal policy for the Minnesota Business Partnership and worked as an administrative law judge for the Minnesota Department of Economic Security. In 2003, Governor Tim Pawlenty appointed McDaniel to the Metropolitan Council where he represents District 16, encompassing most of Southern Dakota County. He was reappointed to that post in 2007. McDaniel is a 1995 graduate, summa cum laude, of Minnesota State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Political Science and an Economics minor. McDaniel attended William Mitchell College of Law, graduating with honors in 1998. McDaniel lives in Apple Valley. He is the son of John and Jackie McDaniel, Crystal. Lockridge Grindal Nauen P.L.L.P. (LGN) announces that Roger K. Johnson has joined the law firm as a lobbyist and consultant, part of the Government Relations teams in Minnesota and Washington, D.C., effective July 1, 2007. In his new position, Mr. Johnson will provide LGN clients with association management services, grassroots development, lobbying and public relations. LGN Partner Ted Grindal said, “Roger is an outstanding professional whom I’ve known for 25 years. I look forward to working with him as the firm expands to offer public affairs, public relations and association management services for clients working with us in Minnesota and Washington, D.C.” Johnson will advise, assist and advocate for physicians, physician group practices, practice administrators and specialty societies at the Capitol and in state agencies in St. Paul. “I am very pleased to be affiliated with Lockridge Grindal Nauen,” Johnson said. “I look forward to working with the LGN advocacy team in Minnesota as well as with the attorneys in the LGN Health Care Practice Area on behalf of physicians and other health care professionals.” A Minnesota native and graduate of the University of Minnesota, Johnson worked at the St. Paul Companies where he investigated and settled medical liability and other types of claims. He managed several campaigns for the Minnesota House and Senate as well as a U.S. Senate campaign. Johnson served on the staff of First District Minnesota Congressman Al Quie for seven years. For the past 28 years, Johnson has held several positions in organized medicine ranging from director of communications at the Minnesota Medical Association to the CEO of the Ramsey Medical Society, a position he held for 13 years until June 1, 2007. He is a Certified Association Executive (CAE), a designation awarded by the American Society of Association Executives. He is a member of the board of directors of the Hamm Clinic, an outpatient mental health clinic in St. Paul. Lockridge Grindal Nauen P.L.L.P. (LGN) is pleased to announce that Gregory J. Myers has been made a partner in the law firm. A Plymouth, Minnesota, native, Myers’ practice areas include Commercial Litigation in federal and state court, Health Care Law and Securities Law. He has litigated contract disputes, ERISA matters, employment disputes, Fair Credit Reporting Act claims and securities actions. He also has successfully represented doctors in litigation and privileging disputes and has helped represent plaintiffs and defendants in multimillion dollar class litigation on a national scale. Myers is a 1998 magna cum laude graduate of William Mitchell College of Law, where he served as a staff member and associate editor for the William Mitchell Law Review. He formerly worked as a professional journalist for newspapers and other publications in Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Rhode Island, Missouri and the Middle East. Myers received his journalism degree from Marquette University and is an adjunct professor of legal writing at William Mitchell College of Law. Myers is a member of the Federal Bar Association. He chairs the LGN Pro Bono Committee. He is married to Mary Divine Myers, a reporter with the Saint Paul Pioneer Press. They have three children and reside in Saint Paul. During its Annual Dinner and Awards Banquet at the Grand Casino Mille Lacs on December 8, 2006, the Minnesota American Indian Chamber of Commerce (MAICC) presented Lockridge Grindal Nauen P.L.L.P. with its prestigious Buffalo Award, in recognition of the firm’s work with and on behalf of American Indian businesses. Christopher K. Sandberg and R. Reid LeBeau accepted the award on behalf of the firm, and expressed appreciation to the Chamber for the recognition and optimism with regard to a continued positive working relationship. The Minneapolis Indian Health Board, Inc. recently elected R. Reid LeBeau to serve a two year term on its Board of Governors. The Board is a non-profit federally qualified health care facility which provides medical, dental, and counseling services primarily to American Indians. During his term, LeBeau will help oversee the financial and operational aspects of the facility – a task that will allow him to give back to the community while gaining a unique perspective on the inner workings of a nonprofit health care organization. “I am interested in making sure much needed services are provided to the American Indian community while also ensuring the clinic remains a viable option for providing quality health care to all communities,” explained LeBeau. As a student at the University of Minnesota, Morris, LeBeau servedas chair of the Activity Fee Review Committee where he gained extensive experience managing the student activity budget. He hopes this background combined with his unique perspective of having been a lifelong urban American Indian, will enable him contribute to the Board.
