Susan Ellingstad and David Asp Win Appeal at the Tenth Circuit.(2/06/2011)

Today, the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed a previous grant of summary judgment in favor of LGN client, Integra Telecom Holdings, Inc. The plaintiff, Aaron Sampson, alleged that he was terminated because of his race and in retaliation for his complaints about racial harassment in violation of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, 42 U.S.C. §§ 2000e et seq., and the Civil Rights Act of 1866, 42 U.S.C. § 1981. The district court granted summary judgment to Integra on all claims. Mr. Sampson appealed the district court's decision only as it pertained to the retaliation claim. The 10th Circuit rejected the plaintiff's arguments and affirmed the dismissal of the case.

LGN Team Earns Final Approval of $125 Million Settlement.(1/11/2011)

Lockridge Grindal Nauen P.L.L.P. is proud to announce that due to the hard work of Craig Davis, Elizabeth Odette, Connie Hartel, Matt Johnson, Kelly LeRoy and Barb Gilles final approval of the $125 million settlement in Kitec Plumbing MDL was granted. The case was long and had many interesting procedural twists including the joint U.S. and Canadian approval process (it is a cross-jurisdictional settlement approved by the MDL Court, the Ontario Court and the Quebec Court) and the unsuccessful attempt by some 265 insurers to effectuate a blanket opt out of all insured homeowners. The work will continue until approximately 2020 as building owners make claims on the settlement fund.
