Karen Hanson Riebel, a partner in the firm, is a 1991 dual-degree graduate (J.D., B.A.) from Boston University School of Law. Ms. Riebel practices exclusively in the firm's complex litigation group, with a concentration in securities matters. Her practice includes significant trial experience. In 1994, Ms. Riebel was a member of the trial team that won a $5 billion jury verdict for punitive damages in the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Litigation. In addition, Ms. Riebel was a member of the trial team in the In Re ICN/Viratek Securities Litigation, which settled for $14.5 million after the jury returned a partial verdict. Ms. Riebel was also a part of the team that recovered $45 million for a class of purchasers of stock in a bankrupt telecommunications company in the In Re USN Communications Securities Litigation, which settled just before trial.
