Matthew R. Salzwedel is a 1998 summa cum laude graduate of Drake University and a 2001 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, where he was the Lead Managing Editor of the Minnesota Law Review. After law school, he clerked for the Honorable G. Barry Anderson of the Minnesota Court of Appeals. Matthew has focused his practice primarily on general commercial litigation, representing individuals, businesses, insurance companies, financial institutions, and broker-dealers in a variety of litigation matters. He has particular experience litigating cases under Articles 3 and 4 of the Uniform Commercial Code, which govern negotiable instruments and bank deposits and collections, including successfully defending a global wide broker-dealer through trial in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania litigating an issue of first impression under the Code. He also has experience in defamation, media, and privacy-law matters. Matthew is the author of several law-related articles, including Cleaning Up Buckley: How the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act Shields Academic Corruption in College Athletics, 2003 Wisconsin Law Review 1053 (with Jon Ericson), and A Contractual Theory of Corporate Opportunity and a Proposed Statute, 23 Pace Law Review 83 (2002) |
