LGN Partner Rebecca Kanninen has been named the new leader for LGN’s Federal Relations Group – building upon her work overseeing the DC office over the past several years.

Additionally, the LGN Federal Relations Group is excited to welcome three new hires – Ed Kim, Nicholas Kowalski, and Bob Sherman.

  • Ed Kim has over five years of experience on Capitol Hill, most recently serving as a Senior Health Policy Advisor to Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee during the 115th Congress. Ed brings a wealth of policy and political experience in the areas of healthcare, energy, economic development, and workforce issues.
  • Nicholas Kowalski was a founding member of Brass Tactics, a national advocacy and organizing consulting firm in Washington, D.C. He has extensive campaign and management experience handling complex projects leading advocacy, political, earned media, marketing, and membership programs. Nick brings business expertise in strategic planning and communications to LGN’s Federal Relations Group.
  • Bob Sherman previously worked for Chicago Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky and Minnesota Congresswoman Betty McCollum. He has also worked in federal advocacy with Ducks Unlimited and Monument Advocacy, covering a broad range of policy areas.

Ed, Nick, and Bob will join Megan Knight, Emily Tranter, Lianne Endo, and Vince Spinner in an expanded Federal Relations team better equipped to represent our clients from throughout the country in our nation’s capital.

“We are thrilled to be adding Ed, Nick, and Bob to an already-robust team in our Washington, D.C. office,” said Ted Grindal, partner in charge of the firm’s government relations practice. “With the 116th Congress in its first few weeks, having our new team in place will provide stability and consistency for clients throughout the entire two-year congressional session.”

“Ed has been a tremendous member of my team, particularly as we work to improve health care for the American people. While I will miss Ed’s expertise and counsel, I know he will be a major asset to LGN’s Federal Relations Group,” said Congressman Mike Burgess, M.D.

“I’m excited to join this high-caliber team and work with LGN’s clients on issues relating to healthcare, energy, economic development, and workforce needs,” said Ed Kim.

“I’m delighted to join the Federal Relations Group at Lockridge Grindal Nauen and am eager to elevate the profile of our clients in the halls of Congress and in state capitals around the country,” said Nick Kowalski.

“It is an absolute privilege to join to LGN Federal Relations Group, and I could not be more excited to hit the ground running and help our clients achieve their goals in the new Congress,” said Bob Sherman.

“Our whole team – both the current and new members – are already working hard on behalf of clients during this new Congress and we’re looking forward to more success and growth in the years ahead,” said Rebecca Kanninen.
