Overview

Stephen Owen concentrates his practice in the firm’s antitrust, consumer fraud, data breach, and employment practice areas, where he represents businesses, individuals, and public entities in complex and high-stakes litigation. Along with litigation, Mr. Owen also serves clients in an advisory capacity, developing workplace policies and ensuring clients’ compliance with multiple sets of employment laws and regulations.

Mr. Owen currently serves as Vice Chair of the Antitrust & Trade Regulation Section of the Federal Bar Association, where he has presented a webinar about recent developments in antitrust law. He was previously Secretary of the Antitrust & Trade Regulation Section, where he authored an article in the Section’s publication, Antitrust Trends, addressing the Department of Justice’s pursuit of wage fixing and no-poach agreements. In addition to thought leadership in the context of antitrust law, Mr. Owen has presented through Minnesota CLE and at the Upper Midwest Employment Law Institute regarding job descriptions, job applications, and job postings.  Mr. Owen is also heavily involved in Twin Cities Diversity in Practice (TCDIP), where he serves as a member of TDCIP’s Emerging Leaders Group, on TCDIP’s Membership Engagement & Innovation Committee, and as an official mentor for law students involved in TCDIP.

In 2023, Mr. Owen was recognized as an Up & Coming Attorney by Minnesota Lawyer magazine. Additionally, Mr. Owen has been recognized as a North Star Lawyer for his pro bono work, representing clients through the Minnesota Appellate Public Defender and the Pro Se Project of the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota.

Mr. Owen graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2017 where he served on the Minnesota Law Review as a Note and Comment Editor. During Law School, Mr. Owen volunteered for the Asylum Law Project where he advised indigent citizens on their civil rights claims. Mr. Owen was also an extern for the late Honorable Judge Steven E. Rau for the U.S. District Court, District of Minnesota.
