Lockridge Grindal Nauen is proud to announce that two of our Attorneys have been elected to leadership positions in prominent Bar Associations in Minnesota. LGN Attorney Arielle Wagner Elected President of the Minnesota American Indian Bar Association

Arielle Wagner was elected as the President of the Minnesota American Indian Bar Association (MAIBA). MAIBA is a non-profit organization of American Indian attorneys, law students, and officers of tribal courts. Arielle has served as Vice President for the last two terms and will serve as the President for the 2020-2021 MAIBA year.

Arielle concentrates her practice in the firm’s antitrust, data breach, and tribal government representation groups. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Law School in 2016 with concentrations in Labor & Employment Law and Business Law. LGN Associates Laura Matson and Arielle Wagner Moderate MSBA ENRE/MAIBA CLE on Tribal Food and Resource Sovereignty

Tribes in the upper Midwest have been at the forefront of developing novel strategies to respond to climate change, mitigate threats to critical ecosystems, protect traditional subsistence and harvesting practices, and advance Tribal resource, energy, and food sovereignty.

Laura Matson and Arielle Wagner moderated a panel titled “Tribal Food and Resource Sovereignty in the context of Climate Change.” The panel featured Bradley Harrington (Minnesota Department of Natural Resources), Michael Northbird (Minnesota Chippewa Tribe), and Philomena Kebec (Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission). The panelists highlighted work being done on reservations, in state government, and in the treaty-ceded territories to revitalize Ojibwe cultural practices, develop food and resource sovereignty plans, and respond to environmental conditions and climate change impacts. The panel touched on issues of treaty law, food safety protocols and agricultural policy, and state/tribal cooperation around environmental initiatives.

Five LGN Attorneys named North Star Lawyers for Pro Bono Work

The Minnesota State Bar Association (MSBA) has recognized Stephanie Chen, Arielle Wagner, Kate Baxter-Kauf, Rachel Kitze Collins, Elizabeth Odette (not pictured) as North Star Lawyers for their pro bono work.

North Star Lawyers are MSBA members who have provided 50 hours or more of pro bono service to low-income individuals or organizations that serve economically disadvantaged individuals during the 2018 calendar year. Brian Clark, Arielle Wagner, and Stephanie Chen lead antitrust discussion at Macalester College

On April 12, 2019, LGN attorneys Brian Clark, Arielle Wagner, and Stephanie Chen led a discussion on antitrust litigation with economics students at Macalaster College. The discussion was part of Macalester’s Industrial Organization class and introduced students to types of anticompetitive behavior, applicable regulatory schemes, and case mechanics.

Macalester College is a private college located in St. Paul, Minnesota. It is a global leader among liberal arts colleges known for its highest standards for scholarship and its special emphasis on internationalism, multiculturalism, and service to society.

A 2016 graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School, Arielle Wagner concentrates her practice in the firm’s antitrust, data breach, health care, and business practice groups. During law school, Arielle was a certified student attorney in the Indian Child Welfare Act Clinic and served as a Managing Editor of the ABA Journal of Labor and Employment Law.

Arielle is an enrolled member of the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa in Northern Minnesota and serves on the Board of Directors of the Minnesota American Indian Bar Association.

LGN Attorneys Leading the Bar

LGN Attorneys Elizabeth Odette, Kate Baxter-Kauf, Rachel Kitze Collins, Kristen Marttila, and Arielle Wagner attended the FBA Minnesota Chapter Federal Judges’ Dinner Dance. At the event the Chapter recognized the work on diversity and inclusion undertaken by members and leaders of Minnesota affinity bar organizations.

Ms. Marttila was recently elected as the National Council Delegate for the Minnesota Chapter of the FBA and will serve a three-year term as a Director. Ms. Odette was re-elected as co-chair of the Mass Tort, Multi-District Litigation, and Class Action Practice Group for the 2018-2019 term and Ms. Wells serves on the Communications Committee. Ms. Wagner is a member of the Board of the Minnesota American Indian Bar Association. Ms. Kitze Collins was recently elected as the treasurer for the MSBA Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy law section.
