LGN partner Dave Zoll spoke to the over 200 attendees of the Minnesota Environmental Institute on April 11th. Citing projects ranging from animal feedlots to petroleum pipelines, his session analyzed the year’s most important developments in environmental review and environmental rights related to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Minnesota Environmental Policy Act (MEPA) and Minnesota Environmental Rights Act (MERA).
LGN Partner David Zoll was recently featured on the Paul & Jordana Show on WCCO Radio to discuss campaign finance law and the 25th Amendment to the Constitution. Mr. Zoll discussed the campaign finance implications of Michael Cohen’s recent plea deal, and the possibility that the 25th amendment could be invoked
Mr. Zoll has a specialized practice in campaign finance and election law. He frequently represents governmental entities and businesses in high-profile cases involving environmental, business, and constitutional law.
During the school year, nine LGN attorneys have served as Reader mentors to 7th and 8th Grade Student Writers at Folwell Performing Arts Magnet School in Minneapolis. Each week students wrote essays on assigned topics which were mailed to mentors to read and provide feedback. Having a specific dedicated audience for their writing proved invaluable in motivating the students to work on and improve their writing. Students, teachers, mentors, and program coordinators gathered to meet and celebrate the program’s school year success. For over 40%, English is not their primary language. Approximately 90% of the student population has diverse ethnic backgrounds. LGN Partner Heidi Silton will serve on the Reader/Writer Board beginning Fall of 2018. David Zoll to serve on the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board’s Environmental Review Advisory Panel
LGN Partner David Zoll has been selected to serve on the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board’s Environmental Review Advisory Panel. The 12-member panel was formed to assess Minnesota’s environmental review program, identify areas of concern, and propose changes to modernize the program.
David will bring has extensive experience representing governmental units, private industries, and non-profit organizations in environmental review matters, and his unique perspective as a litigator, to the Panel’s discussions.

Governor Mark Dayton speaks to Charlie Nauen and Dave Zoll’s students at University of Minnesota Law School Advanced Environmental Law Seminar
The University of Minnesota Law School’s Advanced Environmental Law Seminar, taught by LGN partners Charles Nauen and David Zoll, met with Governor Mark Dayton this week to discuss the State’s environmental policies. The seminar explores significant regulatory and policy issues relating to natural resources, energy law, environmental review, and regional planning. Charlie Nauen and David Zoll represent individuals, governmental units, and business in environmental matters with a specialized practice involving litigation related to the need for and adequacy of environmental review under state and federal law.
LGN hosts discussion on future of environmental and energy regulation under the Trump administration
More than fifty attorneys and law students attended an LGN-hosted seminar last week on the future of environmental and energy regulation under the Trump administration.
LGN attorney David Zoll introduced the panel of experts who offered their insight regarding potential legislative and regulatory changes with respect to energy development, climate change, and other environmental issues.
The Environmental, Energy, and Natural Resources Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association presented the seminar, which was sponsored by Geosyntec Consultants.
