Absentee Voting for Minnesota’s Primary Election – What You Need to Know

This is the first full week of no-excuse absentee voting for the Minnesota’s primary election, which is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11.

When multiple candidates of the same political party file to run for the same office, a primary election is needed to decide which candidate will appear as the party candidate for that office on the November ballot. For non-partisan races, such as county commissioner, primaries are needed to narrow the choices to two candidates for the November ballot in situations where there are three or more candidates running for a particular office.
While the ballot will contain candidates for both the DFL and Republican primaries, voters must only vote in one party’s primary. If you vote for candidates in both parties’ primaries, your ballot will be rejected.

David Zoll Talks Environmental Impact Statement Process On Potential Twin Metals Mine

David Zoll volunteers with Minnesota High School Cycling League

In May 2019, David Zoll participated in the Minnesota High School Cycling League’s Leaders Summit where more than 150 volunteer coaches met to discuss how to develop strong minds, strong bodies, and strong character through the sport of mountain biking. David has used this experience to help lead the Lakeville Mountain Bike Team and carry out the League’s mission of getting more kids on bikes. In addition, David and his family have provided eight hours of volunteer service to help support the League’s fall races.

Nine LGN Attorneys served as Reader mentors at Folwell Performing Arts Magnet School

During the school year, nine LGN attorneys have served as Reader mentors to 7th and 8th Grade Student Writers at Folwell Performing Arts Magnet School in Minneapolis. Each week students wrote essays on assigned topics which were mailed to mentors to read and provide feedback. Having a specific dedicated audience for their writing proved invaluable in motivating the students to work on and improve their writing. Students, teachers, mentors, and program coordinators gathered to meet and celebrate the program’s school year success. For over 40%, English is not their primary language. Approximately 90% of the student population has diverse ethnic backgrounds. LGN Partner Heidi Silton will serve on the Reader/Writer Board beginning Fall of 2018. David Zoll to serve on the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board’s Environmental Review Advisory Panel

LGN Partner David Zoll has been selected to serve on the Minnesota Environmental Quality Board’s Environmental Review Advisory Panel. The 12-member panel was formed to assess Minnesota’s environmental review program, identify areas of concern, and propose changes to modernize the program.

David will bring has extensive experience representing governmental units, private industries, and non-profit organizations in environmental review matters, and his unique perspective as a litigator, to the Panel’s discussions.

LGN hosts discussion on future of environmental and energy regulation under the Trump administration

More than fifty attorneys and law students attended an LGN-hosted seminar last week on the future of environmental and energy regulation under the Trump administration.

LGN attorney David Zoll introduced the panel of experts who offered their insight regarding potential legislative and regulatory changes with respect to energy development, climate change, and other environmental issues.

The Environmental, Energy, and Natural Resources Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association presented the seminar, which was sponsored by Geosyntec Consultants.
