LGN Attorneys Rachel Kitze Collins and Laura Matson, who both practice in the firm’s environmental litigation group, recently co-authored an article discussing the United States Supreme Court’s recent decision in West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency and the implications for climate regulation in the United States. The article was published in Minnesota Women Lawyer’s With Equal Right publication and can be read here.
LGN was proud to sponsor WomenWinning’s 40th Annual Luncheon, which featured U.S. Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan, State Representative Kelly Morrison, former State Representative Erin Maye Quade, Dr. Sarah Traxler, and Dr. Julie Amaon. WomenWinning’s mission is to encourage, promote, support, and elect pro-choice women of all political parties to all levels of public office.
LGN Attorney Laura Matson recently spoke on a panel entitled ‘The Rights of Nature: A Novel Approach to a Long-“Standing” Issue in Environmental Litigation’ at the Federal Bar Association’s 47th Annual Federal Practice Seminar. The panel included a discussion of how the “Rights of Nature” movement aims to secure legal rights for plants, animals, and ecosystems and is increasingly viewed as a mechanism for bringing new life to environmental litigation.
Laura was joined by Richard Duncan, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, Frank Bibeau, Center for Democratic Environmental Rights, and Virginia McCalmont, Forsgren Fisher McCalmont DeMarea Tysver.
LGN Attorney Laura Matson penned a three-part profile of the life and career of Chief Judge John R. Tunheim. Chief Judge Tunheim was nominated to the federal district court by President Clinton in 1995 and has served as chief judge of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota since 2015.
