14 LGN Attorneys Named Super Lawyers and Rising Stars for 2021

Lockridge Grindal Nauen is proud to announce that fourteen of the firm’s attorneys were selected as 2021 Minnesota Super Lawyers and Rising Stars. Super Lawyers recognizes the top 5% of outstanding lawyers in each state, who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement, from more than 70 practice areas.

The Rising Stars recognition is given to the top 2.5% of up-and-coming attorneys in the state who are either 40 years or younger, or who have been practicing for 10 years or less.

The selection process is multi-phased including independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations.

Susan Ellingstad, Yvonne Flaherty, and Karen Riebel were named as three of the Top 50 Women Super Lawyers in Minnesota for the third year in a row. We are proud that this is the sixth year in a row in which at least three of LGN’s women partners have been recognized in this category.

FEDERAL RESERVE ANNOUNCES MUNICIPAL LIQUIDITY FACILITY PROGRAM

On Thursday, April 9, the Federal Reserve took actions to provide up to $2.3 trillion in loans to support the economy. This funding will assist households and employers of all sizes and bolster the ability of state and local governments to deliver critical services during the coronavirus pandemic.

One of the actions that the Federal Reserve is taking is geared toward helping state and local governments manage cash flow stresses caused by the coronavirus pandemic by establishing a Municipal Liquidity Facility (the “Facility”).  Pursuant to the Facility, a Federal Reserve Bank will commit to lend up to $500 billion to special purpose vehicle (“SPV”) on a recourse basis.  The SPV will in turn purchase “Eligible Notes” directly from Eligible Issuers.  The SPV will have the ability to purchase up to $500 billion of Eligible Notes.  States, the District of Columbia, counties with a population of at least two million residents, and […]

LGN was proud to be a Chief Presenting Sponsor of the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association’s Executive Training Institute & Law Enforcement Expo last week.

LGN partner Rebecca Kanninen introduced the association’s Executive Director, Andy Skoogman, at the conference’s President’s Reception. Emily Tranter, from LGN’s Federal Relations team in Washington, D.C., was joined by former Saint Paul Mayor Randy Kelly to present a briefing on emerging issues impacting law enforcement at the federal level,

LGN represents several law enforcement organizations at the state and federal level, including the Minnesota Police and Peace Officers Association, the North Dakota Peace Officers Association, and the Police Officers Association of Michigan. LGN also works on behalf of cities and counties seeking state and federal funding for public safety related projects.

LGN collects more than 200 pounds of food and $3,330 in cash donations for Neighborhood House food drive

LGN partners, attorneys, and staff raised more than $3,000 to support Neighborhood House’s annual food drive this spring. This effort, which LGN has supported for many years, is the latest in a series of projects the firm has undertaken as part of its 40 4 40 initiative. The initiative celebrates the firm’s 40th Anniversary through a series of forty service projects to support the communities where LGN employees live and work.

As part of its annual food drive, Neighborhood House, a Saint Paul-based non-profit, regularly shares nearly 1 million pounds of food with families throughout the city. LGN partner Rebecca Kanninen recently joined the Board of Directors for Neighborhood House. Thank you to everyone at LGN for supporting the drive.

Lockridge Grindal Nauen a strong presence at Minnesota Chiefs’ conference

Lockridge Grindal Nauen was a proud sponsor of the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association’s (MCPA) Executive Training Institute & Law Enforcement Expo, which took place in Duluth April 22nd-25th.

The conference featured a presentation from LGN Partner Anna Horning Nygren on preventing harassment in the workplace and best practices for employers, and specifically police departments, to investigate and respond to allegations while protecting their organizations from liability. LGN’s Attorneys and Government Relations professionals have extensive experience representing governmental entities at the local, state and federal levels from the courtroom to the capital.

LGN Partner Rebecca Kanninen also spoke at MCPA’s Annual Awards Banquet, introducing keynote speaker, Craig Floyd, Chief Executive Officer of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, who spoke on the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty.

Partners Charlie Nauen and Rebecca Kanninen spoke to attendees at the MCPA Awards Banquet and President’s Welcome Breakfast respectively. Additionally, LGN’s David Zoll and Ann Lenczewski gave a presentation to the police chiefs and other representatives of local governments and agencies in attendance entitled – Legislation, Litigation, and Local Governments: Protecting Your Interests.
