Jessica E. Hyland (formerly Jessica E. Lindeen) joined Lockridge Grindal Nauen in 2016 as part of the firm’s Minnesota government relations team. She focuses on legislative matters before the Minnesota Legislature and state agencies relating to health, human services, housing, labor, and tribal governments. Her Minnesota government relations practice centers on strategic legislative advocacy, policy development, and client representation at the Capitol. Her extensive knowledge and experience navigating these complex issue areas make her an important resource for firm clients. Known as a solutions-oriented thinker, she takes a creative approach toward identifying challenges and opportunities in the legislative process, and her strong communication skills ensure that the government relations process is accessible and transparent for clients.
As a member of the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Ms. Hyland plays a key role in efforts related to the advancement, recruitment, and retention of attorneys and government relations professionals of color and members of the LGBTQ+ community. She is a longtime host supervisor for the Citizens League Capitol Pathways program, which provides paid internships to BIPOC students interested in policymaking. In that role, she directs the firm’s participation through mentorship and reinforces LGN’s commitment to fostering a more diverse and reflective Capitol community.
Ms. Hyland brings a diverse background in Minnesota government relations and campaign experience to the LGN team. Prior to her government relations practice, she spent multiple election cycles on the campaign trail working on congressional campaigns as well as state-based issue and constitutional amendment campaigns, gaining considerable knowledge of Minnesota’s political landscape. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Iowa and studied abroad at Saint Louis University in Madrid, Spain.
