LGN named a Best Law Firm for Environmental Law, Environmental Litigation, and Product Liability Litigation

Congratulations to LGN’s Environmental Law and Products Liability teams on being included on U.S. World & News Report and Best Lawyers annual rankings of “Best Law Firms”.

The 2019 rankings were based on more than 1,125,000 law firm assessments and over 107,000 client evaluations.

To be eligible for a ranking, a firm must have a lawyer recognized first in The Best Lawyers in America, which recognizes the top five percent of practicing attorneys in the U.S. LGN partners Richard Lockridge, Charles Nauen, Susan Ellingstad, and Yvonne Flaherty were named earlier this year to the list, which was published in U.S. News & World Report.

Congratulations to LGN partners Richard Lockridge, Charles Nauen, Susan Ellingstad, and Yvonne Flaherty for being named by Best Lawyers to their 2019 Best Lawyers in America list. They were recognized for their work in the following areas:

  • Yvonne Flaherty – Product Liability Litigation – Plaintiffs

A special congratulations to Charles Nauen, who was also named 2019 Environmental Law Lawyer of the Year.

This year’s Best Lawyers rankings were based on an analysis of over 7.8 million peer nominations submitted earlier this year, which are divided by geographic region and practice areas before evaluation on the basis of professional expertise. Those who receive high peer reviews undergo an authentication process to make sure they are currently practicing and in good standing. The list will be published by U.S. News & World Report later this year.

Minnesota Supreme Court agrees with LGN, shareholders in Medtronic-Covidien tax inversion lawsuit

The Minnesota Supreme Court unanimously decided Wednesday that shareholders challenging the Medtronic-Covidien tax inversion could assert direct claims against Medtronic. Vern Vander Weide and Gregg Fishbein, along with Richard Lockridge and Kate Baxter-Kauf, represent the shareholders who are alleging that the inversion caused them to incur significant capital gains taxes and diluted their corporate ownership. The case will now go back to the Hennepin County District Court for further pre-trial proceedings.
