LGN Attorney Laura Matson Speaks on Panel at Federal Bar Association’s 47th Annual Federal Practice Seminar

LGN Attorney Laura Matson recently spoke on a panel entitled ‘The Rights of Nature: A Novel Approach to a Long-“Standing” Issue in Environmental Litigation’ at the Federal Bar Association’s 47th Annual Federal Practice Seminar. The panel included a discussion of how the “Rights of Nature” movement aims to secure legal rights for plants, animals, and ecosystems and is increasingly viewed as a mechanism for bringing new life to environmental litigation. 

Laura was joined by Richard Duncan, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, Frank Bibeau, Center for Democratic Environmental Rights, and Virginia McCalmont, Forsgren Fisher McCalmont DeMarea Tysver.

LGN Attorney Laura Matson Pens Profile of Life and Career of Chief Judge John R. Tunheim

LGN Attorney Laura Matson penned a three-part profile of the life and career of Chief Judge John R. Tunheim. Chief Judge Tunheim was nominated to the federal district court by President Clinton in 1995 and has served as chief judge of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota since 2015.

LGN Attorneys Confirmed to Leadership Positions in Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association

LGN Attorneys Kristen Marttila, Kate Baxter-Kauf, and Simeon Morbey have been elected to leadership positions in the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association for the coming 2022-2023 year. Kristen will co-chair the Mentorship Committee and will continue serving on the Board of Directors, Kate will co-chair the Mass Tort, Multi-District Litigation, and Class Action Practice Group, and Simeon will co-chair the Civil Discovery Practice Group.
