The AAI is an independent, nonprofit organization which, through research, education and advocacy, promotes the benefits of competition and antitrust enforcement. LGN actively supports the AAI and its mission, and LGN partner Joe Bruckner serves on the AAI’s Board of Directors.

Nine LGN Attorneys served as Reader mentors at Folwell Performing Arts Magnet School

During the school year, nine LGN attorneys have served as Reader mentors to 7th and 8th Grade Student Writers at Folwell Performing Arts Magnet School in Minneapolis. Each week students wrote essays on assigned topics which were mailed to mentors to read and provide feedback. Having a specific dedicated audience for their writing proved invaluable in motivating the students to work on and improve their writing. Students, teachers, mentors, and program coordinators gathered to meet and celebrate the program’s school year success. For over 40%, English is not their primary language. Approximately 90% of the student population has diverse ethnic backgrounds. LGN Partner Heidi Silton will serve on the Reader/Writer Board beginning Fall of 2018. The CLE, Hate Crimes Against Immigrants: A Discussion, took place on April 24, 2018 at the Dar Al-Farooq Center in Bloomington, Minnesota, the site of a bombing in August 2017. Pictured are panelists Cynthia M. Deitle, programs and operations director for the Matthew Shepard Foundation and former FBI agent; Robin Phillips, executive director of The Advocates for Human Rights; Deepinder Singh Mayell, director of the James H. Binger Center for New Americans’ Education and Outreach Program at the University of Minnesota Law School; and Imam Asad Zaman, executive director and imam with the Muslim American Society of Minnesota, and Mr. Linsk, who introduced the panel to the audience.
