LGN Sponsors Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid Law Day Dinner

We were proud to sponsor and attend the 44th Annual Law Day Dinner. This Fund for Legal Aid event is co-sponsored by Hennepin County Bar Association as a fundraiser for Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid.

This annual event celebrates the essential work of Legal Aid in advancing equal access to justice for individuals and families across our community. We were honored to join fellow legal professionals, advocates, and community leaders in supporting this mission.

LGN partner Rachel Kitze Collins serves on the Fund for Legal Aid Board. LGN associate David Hahn served as the LGN Firm Captain for the Legal Aid Associates’ Giving Campaign. LGN is proud that it achieved 100% participation from its associates in the campaign!

Bar Talk Cover Story Written by LGN Associate

LGN associate, David Hahn, demonstrated his narrative skills on the front page of the Federal Bar Association’s publication, “Bar Talk,” this quarter. His article recapped a talkback session featuring Senior Judges Paul Magnuson and Ann Montgomery of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota. From their thoughts on the transition to the Electronic Age to what advice they would give their younger selves, David captured the highlights from the lively discussion.

Bar Talk is the award-winning newsletter of the Minnesota Chapter of the Federal Bar Association (FBA) that provides Chapter members with timely and valuable information. The FBA is the preeminent bar association serving federal practitioners, both private and public. The Minnesota Chapter is one of the Association’s largest chapters.

LGN Represents Bipartisan Group Challenging Trump’s Eligibility for 2024 Ballot

Along with Free Speech For People, LGN represents a group of prominent Minnesota voters who have filed a petition to keep former president Donald Trump off the 2024 ballot in the state because of his role in the insurrection on January 6, 2021. The petition asks the Minnesota Supreme Court to direct Secretary of State Steve Simon to withhold Trump’s name from next year’s primary and general election ballots.

The petition invokes the insurrection disqualification clause in Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. This section prohibits officials who have sworn an oath to uphold the Constitution from holding public office if they have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the Constitution. No criminal conviction is required.

LGN attorneys Charlie Nauen, David Zoll, Rachel Kitze Collins, Kristen Marttila, and David Hahn are working on this matter.
